Introduction

Welcome to our Weapon Master Fighter Guide! In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know to use the build including skills, perks, Stat Priority and more!

Skills

The two Skills you will use for the Weapon Master Fighter is Sprint and Second Wind. These two skills are staples of any Fighter build.

Sprint

Sprint helps negate the slow movement speed of the Fighter and can be used to track down enemies or get out of bad situations.

Second Wind

Second Wind gives the Fighter a good level of self-healing and can provide some in-combat survivability. Use Second Wind to heal up before an encounter or pop it mid fight to get your “second wind” in combat.

Perks

For this Fighter build, we recommend the following perks:

  • Weapon Mastery
  • Combo Attack
  • Projectile Resistance
  • Swift.

First, You’ll need Weapon Mastery to equip the recommended weapons for the build. Combo attack helps increase your damage output with the spear. Projectile Resistance helps provide increased resistance

Stat Priority

  • +All Attributes
  • Strength
  • Additional Physical Damage
  • Physical DMG Resistance

+All Attributes allowing you additional stat points in every stat is huge value and can improve all aspects of gameplay. STR is the Fighters main attribute and will increase your attack power and health pool. Round out your gear with Physical DMG Resistance. The Fighter can stack Physical Damage Resistance along with high armor values to mitigate almost all incoming physical damage.

Gear

Weapons

For this build, you’ll be using the Spear and the Windlass Crossbow. The Spear adds a significant amount of range to give you an advantage in both PVP and PVE. It also deals a massive amount of damage when hitting the head of your opponent. You can also use a Long Sword with this build. Long Sword has a much higher Skill Floor than the spear does but provides the opportunity to “parry” enemy attacks.

Armor

For the Weapon Master Build, you will want to use Heavy armor with as much Physical resistance as Possible. Make sure to also use your Stat Priority above when selecting gear!

How To Play the Weapon Master Fighter Build

The weapon master fighter build has several strengths due to the fighters versatility.  Having access to the spear and crossbow give the fighter a “fighting” Chance in almost any fight.  Spear and long sword help the fighter survive in melee combat with barbarians.

Melee

With the spear, make sure to try to kite barbarians in one-on-one combat by backing up as you attack.  Another strength of this build in melee range is that it can attack in tight spaces.  Both the spear and the long sword have a narrow trust as it’s first attack.

Ranged

While at ranged, the Fighter should open with the crossbow.  This is a powerful part of the fighters kit as it provides one shot potential when hitting head shots on light armor wearers (mage, rangers, and rogues).  It can also be used to open fights on tankier classes as well.  Once you master the crossbows drop and projectile velocity, you’ll be dangerous in any combat situation.

Multiclassing Options

Multiclassing is a very experimental feature in Dark and Darker. As a result, there is going to be a ton of possibilities and build tweaks. As we and the many players of the game push further into the wipe to test Multiclassing, we’ll update this build with our recommendations!
