Introduction

Welcome to our Staff and Dagger Solo build guide. In this guide, we’ll go over our recommended way to set-up the Staff and Dagger weapon combination for Solo Farming. This set-up is primarily used in Abyss Dungeons in the Open World.

Skills

Below is our Skill set-up for Solo PVE farming:

This combination of Skills allows for AoE gameplay at range and in melee.

Skill Specializations

With 100 total points to play with once you hit Level 50, below is our recommended Specializations for the Staff and Dagger Solo build:

These particular Specializations unlock incredible cleave/AoE potential for farming mobs as a solo player in Throne and Liberty. The build utilizes melee Lightning and the standard Staff Skills. See our Skill Specializations guide for more information.

Weapon Mastery

This guide assumes you are at least in the range of Level 13-16 Weapon Mastery. However, if you’re below this threshold, it’s not an issue. Simply spec into the mastery trees that provide the most damage first.

Stats

Stats once you reach Tier 1 Epic gear can vary frequently due to stats built into gear. As a result, try to push for at least 50 Perception and 50 Dexterity while farming – gear depending. Below is our recommended baseline Stat allocation:

  • Dexterity – 20 Points
  • Perception – 20 Points
  • Strength – 9 Points

Gear & Equipment

The gear loadout largely, if not entirely, stays the same across all content once you reach Tier 1 Epic. Our Tier 1 Epic set assumes that most of the base content has been unlocked with the Milestones completed.

Early on, make use of your Rare gear you acquired through MSQ. It is totally fine and expected to be in Rare gear for quite a long time – so don’t worry too much!

Guardian

Guardians are a unique transformation on a 10 minute Cooldown that gives powerful bonuses to you for 30 seconds. Some Guardians work as an additional “Active” Skill, while others provide buffs. We recommend the following Guardians for Solo Farming:

  • Shade Revenant Stheno – Stheno is the most offense-heavy choice in PVE. This Guardian dishes out consistent damage dealing projectiles to multiple targets.
  • Lady Knight Kamarshea – This Guardian is a fantastic safety net, just incase you’re taking too much damage during pulls. You’ll also get a huge amount of Cooldown Speed too.

How to Play The Staff and Dagger Solo Build

Our Staff and Dagger Solo build guide not only aims to teach you how to put it together, but also how to play it.

The main objective of playing this build solo is to be able to manage multiple mobs alone and efficiently clear them. Typically as a ranged class, the Staff can struggle to pull a lot of mobs and deal with them without taking a lot of damage in return. This is a result of mobs being mixed between ranged and melee too, as well as crowd controls used by mobs. This is where the Dagger comes in, for this build we emphasis the use Dagger cleave and Staff AoE to quickly destroy packs of mobs.

Skill Rotations

The standard way of navigating your Skills in the build is to start pulling mobs from range or with your body, and rotate your Skills in the following pattern:

  • Activate High Focus
  • Pop Lightning Infusion
  • Serial Fire Bomb
  • Inferno Wave
  • Pop Thunder Spirit
  • Cleaving Moonlight x2
  • Put Fatal Stigma on the highest Thundercloud stacked target
  • Judgment Lightning and Chain Lightning
  • Consume your Thundercloud stacks with Thunderclouds Bombing and clean up with remaining Skills like Ice Spear Bombardment

The above rotation assumes the mobs live throughout the majority of the combination. However, there’ll be many times you do not get through the whole rotation. If this seems to be the case, you can use Judgment Lightning and Chain Lightning earlier to kill off the mobs and move to the next pull.

High Focus provides a damage increase, some Cooldown Speed and Move Speed for any kiting. After popping Lightning Infusion, the Fire Skills come as a priority to apply some burst & Burn stacks. This is due to Burn stacks increasing your Heavy Attack Chance, thanks to the “Flame Condensation” Passive. Thunder Spirit and Cleaving Moonlight in combination quickly stacks Thunderclouds on multiple targets. This is important because Fatal Stigma scales in damage based on the amount of stacks you have. As a result, we leave Thunderclouds Bombing until last, as it consumes Thundercloud stacks.

This rotation also works on single-target situations if there isn’t many mobs spawned to pull at the time. While a ranged DPS class is typically squishy compared to other classes, the “Shadow Walker” Passive from the Dagger helps us survive by giving us Damage Reduction and Evasion.

Finally, remember to use Inner Peace between mob pulls to keep your mana topped up.
