Diablo 4 Lucky Hit
Introduction
Lucky Hit is one of the random effects you can trigger with an Attack in Diablo 4. There are a ton of ways each class can utilize this effect in powerful ways! Get the most out of it in our Diablo 4 Lucky Hit Guide.
How does Lucky Hit Work in Diablo 4
The Lucky Hit stat is similar to Crit Chance, but instead of dealing Critical damage, you proc a special effect called a Lucky Hit. Lucky Hits themselves technically do nothing on their own but require a perk, like the one below, to make them impactful. These effects are typically noted in abilities and unique pieces of gear you’ll find on your adventure. Here is an example of a Lucky Hit effect using the Rogue Trap skills and the Blast Trapper Legendary Aspect:
- Lucky Hit: Dealing direct Damage to enemies affected by your Trap Skills has up to a 30% chance to make them Vulnerable for 3 seconds.
Here is the Lucky HIt of one of the Rogue’s Trap Skills – Death Trap

NOTE – YOU CAN TURN ON ADVANCED TOOLTIPS IN YOUR SETTINGS TO SEE THE LUCKY HIT CHANCE OF EACH SKILL
As shown above, Death Trap has a base Lucky Hit Chance of Death Trap is 40%. This can be increased by Affix on items as well as through some passives found in the class skill trees, and eventually the Paragon Board.
Lucky Hit Chance Formula
There are 3 Variables that influence your character’s Lucky Hit chance. In this example, we will be using Death Trap and the Legendary Aspect “Blast Trapper” from above.
First in the equation is the Skills base Lucky Hit chance. This is Multiplied by the Proc Chance of the Lucky Hit Effect AND your Lucky Hit Chance Bonuses. Here is the Formula Laid out in words
Lucky Hit Effect Chance = (Lucky Hit Chance of Skill) X (Proc Chance of Lucky HIt Effect) X (1 + the Sum of Lucky Hit Bonuses added Together)
Next, Let’s Plugin Death Trap and the Blast Trapper Legendary from Above as an example.
NOTE – ALL % are converted to Decimals in the Equation and then back to a percent to find the final % Chance to price the Lucky HIt Effect. EXAMPLE – 40% Lucky Hit Chance from Death Trap will be 0.4.
Chance to Apply “Vulnerable” with Death Trap = 0.4 X 0.3 X (1) = 0.12 or 12%
Finally, lets add a ring that gives you an +5% Lucky Hit Chance
0.4 X 0.3 X (1 + 0.05) = 0.126 or 12.6% to Apply Vulnerable when using Death Trap
