The world bosses including Avarice will only spawn after completing the campaign at least once. As of right now it seems there is no set schedule. Before Avarice spawns there will be a notification with a 30 minute countdown on the world map.
Avarice Fight Mechanics
Let’s dive into mechanics with our Diablo 4 Avarice Guide! Avarice is easier to fight if you know what you are looking for. Below we will explain the mechanics and dangers during the fight.
Phases of the fight – Avarice has 4 phases. Upon reaching each phase he will drop potions.
Stagger bar – Keep an eye out on the stagger bar, the yellow bar just below the health bar. Using crowd control abilities will fill up the stagger bar resulting in staggering Avarice, giving you extra time to attack without repercussion. Additionally when Avarice gets staggered 2 loot goblins appear, if there is enough damage feel free to kill these and get some extra loot.
Ground Stomp – Avarice will perform a ground stomp with one of his feet creating a shockwave dealing damage. This attack is hard to avoid but does not deal a huge amount of damage, beside damaging you the attack will pull you towards Avarice. Try to evade right after the attack ends to avoid any follow up attacks.
Swipe – Avarice will perform a small swipe with their hammer. Stay in the middle to easily avoid the damage.
Hammer Upheaval – Avarice will upheaval the ground in a forward cone, ending in a hammer slam. This attack is best avoided by evading sideways or moving behind Avarice during the small wind up window.
Portal – Avarice will create a portal and run towards it, damaging along the way. The portal will close and reappear at another location where Avarice will run out also damaging along the way. Evading to the side is the easiest way to avoid damage.
Gold Vomit – Avarice will spit on the ground twice leaving a pool of liquid gold becoming bigger with each spit. Staying behind Avarice is the easiest way to avoid damage. The pool will last a while and keep damaging those standing in it.
Chest Swipe – Avarice will extend the chain around their chest and drag it around in a swiping motion. Staying in the middle close to Avarice is the easiest way to avoid damage.
Chest Slam – Avarice will slam their chest on the ground creating a shockwave. All the pillars within the shockwave will explode after a short window, dealing damage and leaving a pool of Gold. Stay away from the pillars as they will deal significant damage.
To finish of our Diablo 4 Avarice guide we will give you some extra tips for your fight with Avarice.

Vulnerable – Keeping Avarice vulnerable throughout the fight will result in them taking 20% extra damage from all sources. For more info on Vulnerable and other status effects you can take a look at our Buffs and Debuffs Guide.
Difficulty – Fight Avarice in a World Tier you are comfortable with, after completing the campaign on your character to unlock the world bosses you should have no issue fighting in World Tier 2.
